Police Holiday DUI Emphasis Patrols Have Started
On November 28, 2019, police departments throughout Washington started extra patrols to stop suspected drunk drivers on the roadways during the holiday season.
The Washington State Patrol will be deploying its Mobile Impaired Driving Unit (MIDU) to central locations for use by all police agencies. This mobile police station on wheels has three DUI breath testing instruments, a phlebotomist for DUI blood alcohol / drug draws, and two holding cells. This MIDU allows troopers, deputies and police officers to process suspected DUI drivers quickly, then get back on patrol.
The Washington State Patrol warns all drivers to drive sober throughout the holiday season or face DUI arrest.
