MOVING VS NONMOVING TRAFFIC INFRACTION VIOLATIONS IN WASHINGTON STATE (Click Here)
Traffic infraction moving violations are treated differently than non moving infraction violations in Washington State.
Under Washington Administrative Code(WAC) 308-104-160, traffic "moving violations" consist of all driving offenses that involve dangerous or potentially dangerous actions while operating a vehicle. Such as speeding, running stop sign/red light, changing lanes without signaling, talking on a cell phone, following too closely, etc. Such moving violations result in a Washington Department of Licensing (DOL) driver license suspension if not paid or resolved in court. And such a DOL driver license suspension in Washington State will usually automatically result in a suspended driver license in most other states.
Any traffic infraction offense not listed under WAC 308-104-160, is not a "moving violation" in Washington. And non moving traffic infraction violations do not result in a DOL driver license suspension in Washington. These include all parking tickets, camera traffic tickets, defective car equipment tickets, minor vehicle paperwork registration / licensing tickets, etc.
