Shoreline YWCA Teen Court
Attorney Paul Hanson has just finished his 12th year as an attorney volunteer for the Shoreline YWCA Teen Court program held in the Snohomish County District Court (South Division) courthouse in Lynnwood.
The Shoreline YWCA teen court program is part of a national teen court program set up where real High School students hold teenage offenders accountable for their minor criminal conduct. Teen court students sit as a jury and judge and decide real juvenile court cases referred to them. The juvenile defendant can elect to have his/her case heard by teen court instead of by the regular juvenile court in Everett at Denny Youth Center.
Each month, a teen court hears cases in the Snohomish County District Court (South Division) courthouse in Lynnwood. Lynnwood attorney Paul Hanson is a volunterr attorney advisor to the teen court there. He helps the teen court students read police reports, apply the law to the juvenile cases referred to them and argue their cases to the teen court jury and judge.
