NEW 2026 DUI LAW CHANGES IN WASHINGTON STATE (Click Here)

Washington Legislation ESHB 1493 made several changes to the WA DUI laws, effective January 1, 2026. When the WA Department of Licensing (DOL) now receives an abstract of court record for a court granted DUI/Physical Control Deferred Prosecution, the driver must obtain a DOL probationary license within 47 days. Failure to do so results in the driver being placed in a “Not Licensed Eligible” status until a probationary license is obtained. In addition, a Deferred Prosecution driver’s DOL license status will be suspended/revoked 3rd degree until the DOL receives proof of an installed Ignition Interlock Device(IID) in a vehicle. For additional information, contact the WA Department of Licensing at (360) 902 3669 or after hours at (360) 628-7114. Or contact Lynnwood DUI attorney Paul Hanson for more information.
