The Washington Department of Transportation has started using installed highway speed cameras on Interstate 5 between Cook and Bow Hill roads in Skagit County and on I-90 in Spokane County. Drivers photographed speeding in those areas will only be mailed warning notices for now instead of actual speeding tickets. But at an unspecified date in the future, speeding tickets will probably be issued with $ penalties the same as those issued by police. However, these future camera speeding tickets will probably be mailed to the car's registered owners instead of the drivers (if not the car owner). And like parking tickets, these camera speed tickets will not go on the car owner's driving record. So they will not affect the car owner's insurance rates.
