Lynnwood, WA: DUI Lawyer Paul Hanson: Washington Department of Licensing SR-22 High Risk Auto Insurance Requirements (Click Here)

In Washington State, the Department of Licensing (DOL) requires drivers to carry SR-22 High Risk Auto Insurance policies for three(3) years after being convicted of certain serious traffic offenses (ex. DUI, Reckless Driving, Hit & Run-Attended Vehicle, etc) or failing/refusing a police DUI breath/blood alcohol test.

The mandated three(3) year SR-22 insurance policy requirement starts right after the DOL imposed license suspension/revocation ends. Failure to obtain mandated SR-22 high risk auto insurance will result in the license suspension/revocation continuing on indefinitely. See RCW 46.29.450

SR-22 high risk auto insurance policies can be very expensive for drivers with poor driving records.
