Distracted Driving Emphasis Patrols to Start This Weekend
The WSP will be conducting a distracted driving emphasis patrol this weekend beginning tomorrow, June 21, 2019.
Personal electronic device includes laptop, tablets, gaming devices, as well as cell phones. A driver is only allowed the minimal use of a single finger swipe or tap to activate, deactivate, or initiate a function on the device. The only exception is to call 911.
The penalty for distracted driving is a $136 citation for the first offense. The penalty increases to $234 for each subsequent offense. The ticket will be reported to your insurance company.
